Life-based learning emphasises the importance of learning about human interaction.

As John Donne said way back in 1624: “No man is an island”. Crucial to human life and living is the ability to relate to — and interact positively with — others.

Three aspects of Society

Society has three aspects, each referred to as a ‘theme’ in the MAC life-based learning framework.

  1. Communication
  2. Relationships
  3. Community

The interdependence of the three themes is of crucial importance

The underlying concept is the progression from communication to relationships to community: effective communication leads to healthy relationships; healthy relationships enable community participation.
