About the course:
Appraisal is one part of continuous year-round staff performance management or development. It is a key part of the annual cycle by which the performance of the staff of the school is assessed and developed. Most performance management/development cycles will include an annual appraisal meeting, at which the appraisal panel and the member of staff being appraised meet to discuss performance against the objectives set at the beginning of the year and the Head Teachers’ Standards.
This course outlines the process and procedures that need to be followed and refers to the updated headteachers’ standards.
Understand the role, process and procedure of performance management of the headteacher
Understand the terms of reference of the Headteachers Performance Management committee
Know about the Headteacher standards
Understand the link between performance management outcomes and the headteachers pay award
Understand what should be reported to the Governing Body
